Oceanex expands service to Newfoundland
ST. JOHN’S, Nfld. — Oceanex has expanded service to Newfoundland with a 50% capacity increase from Halifax to St. John’s and a new weekly call to the port of Corner Brook.
The company said it is expanding its operations to Newfoundland to keep up with current and future demand in the province.
“We are extremely pleased that market conditions are good and we are in a position to improve service and capacity to the province. Additionally, new state-of-the-art cranes in Corner Brook and St. John’s will provide greater service reliability. Our customers will benefit greatly from this and our improved service,” said Captain Sid Hynes, executive chairman, Oceanex.
The additional sailing to Corner Brook each Monday will reduce transit time from Central Canada to Corner Brook, the company says. Also, customers will now have the option to take advantage of the various international container lines that service the Port of Montreal. Transit times from Corner Brook to Montreal can be reduced by more than a week due to the expansion, Oceanex has claimed.
