DES MOINES, Iowa — Old Dominion Freight Line has relocated its Des Moines Service Center to a facility more than twice the size of its previous service centre.

With 123 doors, the newly constructed service centre employs 116 people and is located on a 32-acre site at 6925 S.E. Four Mile Road in Alkeny.

The facility moves a large volume of freight traveling along east-west Interstate 80 and north-south Interstate 35 – both of which intersect in Des Moines.

“The service centre is state-of-the-art in every way and among the most technologically advanced in the industry,” said Scott Goodrich, manager of the Des Moines Service Center. “Our new facility’s increased capacity enables Old Dominion to deliver an even stronger service product to customers.”

The service center’s service area spans most of central Iowa, including Des Moines, Alkeny, Urbandale, Ames, Boone, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown, Newton, Pella, Oskaloosa, Fairfield and Creston.
