Pantares, the alliance between Fraport AG (Frankfurt Airport Services Worldwide) and Schiphol Group, and its Tradeport Hong Kong Ltd. partners, have been chosen by the Hong Kong International Airport Authority to develop and manage a new logistics center over a 27-year period at Chek Lap Kok Airport.
Construction on a 1.38 hectare site in the South Commercial District of the airport island is scheduled to start in the second half of 2001, with operations beginning in 2003. The logistics and distribution center, to be called Tradeport Hong Kong, will be the first complex for logistics services to be built at Chek Lap Kok airport, and is to complement existing cargo handling and forwarding facilities.
Tradeport Hong Kong will serve as a cargo handling and distribution center with fast goods logistics and services including customs clearance, bonded warehouse storage, testing, packaging, labelling and repacking to complete warehouse and delivery management.
Pantares holds a 37.5 per cent share in the Tradeport Hong Kong Ltd. consortium. The three local partners include service provider and handling company Jardine Logistics Services Ltd. and real estate developer/investor Hongkong Land Holdings Limited, with a combined 37.5 per cent share, and the Chinese government’s China National Aviation Company Ltd. with the remaining 25 per cent.
