Panther to buy expedited transportation unit from Con-Way

SEVILLE, OH–Panther Expedited Services, Inc. has announced an agreement for Panther to purchase the expedited freight transportation business of Con-way Expedite and Brokerage, a division of Con-way Inc. With its purchase of Con-way’s expedite division, Panther will significantly expand its owner-operator capacity and resources.

“Immediate response and time-critical dedicated transportation is Panther’s core business and competency,” said Daniel K. Sokolowski, Chairman and CEO of Panther.

“Acquiring Con-way’s expedite division expands Panther’s ability to service our customers, providing them access to the largest independent provider of expedited transportation services in North America.”

Under the agreement, Panther will acquire certain assets and business operations of Con-way’s expedite transportation division. Con-way has agreed to exit the expedite market immediately and to deliver to Panther a non-compete agreement and its customer list.
