PBB team member honored for export excellence
John Ferguson, Director of Marketing, PBB Global Logistics, is the recipient of a Central Ontario Global Traders Award, honoring the province’s leading export-related companies.
“Receiving this award is the direct result of the success of PBB’s customers and partners who trade internationally,” Ferguson says.
Ontario Minister of Economic Development and Trade Bob Runciman presented the awards to the winners in the Central Ontario region during a ceremony in Mississauga, Ont. The winners were selected from nearly 240 nominations received.
“The results are phenomenal,” Minister Runciman said. “Exports generate the equivalent of more than 50 per cent of Ontario’s Gross Domestic Product and sustain 1.6 million jobs in Ontario. This demonstrates Ontario’s ability to take on the world and compete in global markets.”
The Ontario Global Traders Award celebrates outstanding exporting achievement by small and medium-sized enterprises, industry leaders and students. It was created by the Government of Ontario and its partners in trade in 1998 to recognize the important contribution exporters make to the Ontario economy. The Leadership Award presented to Ferguson recognizes outstanding contributions by an individual in furthering export initiatives in the Province.
Ferguson was cited for his leadership promoting the importance of exporting. His role in PBB’s groundbreaking privately-led China Trade Missions in 2000 and 2001; his involvement assisting businesses penetrate international markets; and his advocacy on behalf of exporters were also factors in winning the award.
The Government of Ontario’s lead trade agency, Ontario Exports Inc., and other corporate partners, sponsor the Ontario Export Awards. Awards are presented in various regions of the province, with winners eligible to win province-wide honours at a ceremony May 17th.
PBB Global Logistics employs more than 1,000 people in 70 locations throughout North America. It offers fully integrated global logistics services and has been named to the prestigious list of Canada’s “50 Best Managed Private Companies,” compiled by the National Post, a sister publication to Canadian Transportation & Logistics.
