Penske Logistics Opens Second Distribution Center in Texas

by Canadian Shipper

Penske Logistics has opened a 100,000 square foot distribution center in Los Indios, Texas. Adjacent to Penske’s 208,000 square foot center opened in Los Indios earlier this year, 75,000 square feet of the new center’s capacity is dedicated to servicing Panasonic Automotive Electronics.

Penske’s newest facility in Los Indios provides transportation and distribution center management to Panasonic’s manufacturing operations in Mexico. Penske’s partnership with Panasonic in South Texas began with a contract awarded in 2000 to manage two Panasonic facilities in Brownsville, Texas.

The new distribution center receives and inventories finished goods from around the world. Penske Logistics is using EXE technology, which interfaces with Panasonic’s SAP system.

“Penske now operates 308,000 square feet of distribution center space in Los Indios, Texas, and these facilities have been designed to readily expand to accommodate customer growth. This capability, along with Penske’s more than twenty years of experience operating between the United States and Mexico, enables us to provide valuable services to customers doing business along the international border,” said Dave Topp, national account executive, Penske Logistics.
