Potash train derails in Alberta

WETASKIWIN, Alberta—About 20 cars that were part of a CP Rail train hauling potash have derailed south of Edmonton.

CP Rail spokesman Jeremy Berry says in an email that it happened Sunday morning about five kilometres east of Wetaskiwin.

He says there were no reports of injuries and no dangerous goods were involved.

Potash is a common ingredient in fertilizer.

The train was headed west at the time.

Berry says the investigation into what caused the derailment is underway.
