Primac receives approval for scheduled cargo service between three Canadian cities (May 18, 2001)

The Canadian Transportation Agency has granted Primac Air, a division of Primac Courier (Canada) Inc., certification for flights within Canada. Primac, based on Derry Rd. at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, will begin operations on May 28 with scheduled cargo flights between Pearson, Montreal International and Ottawa International airports.

Primac has served the U.S. and Canada for 21 years. The new certification from the CTA also allows the courier to operate to any city within Canada and is being seen as a move to generate competition in these markets. Primac is also certified for on-demand cargo flights anywhere in Canada.

“Transportation authorities in Ottawa moved on our request for service within Canada on a rapid basis, which showed us they are interested in generating competition in the air. Right now, there is little competition in these markets but great demand. We will begin by operating scheduled, next-flight-out cargo service that will guarantee same-day delivery. Utilizing our existing infrastructure of trucks and vans, we are able to offer door-to-door cargo service as well as traditional airport counter-to-counter service,” says Mary Jane McLaughlin, president of Primac.

To begin its service, Primac has acquired new Cessna Caravan Super Cargomaster aircraft.
