Qantas freight forms strategic alliance with Thai Air Cargo

by Canadian Shipper

Qantas Freight has formed an alliance with Thai Air Cargo, establishing an intra-Asia freighter network, reports Schednet.com. Thai Air Cargo is a privately owned airline, with Commercial Transport International of Bangkok as its major shareholder.

The network will be based in Thailand and will provide express operators and exporters with overnight prime cargo space into major Asian markets. Operations are due to commence in the second half of 2001 using wide-bodied aircraft.

The plan is to develop Bangkok as a regional cargo hub in Thailand for the Asian freight industry.
