Reimer Express joins U.S. Customs PAPS system

by Canadian Shipper

Reimer Express Lines Ltd. has expanded its participation in the U.S. Customs Pre-Arrival Processing System (PAPS), which now extends to all major crossing points at the Canadian/U.S. border.

The procedure allows Reimer Express’ Border Ambassadors, who receive export documents, to quickly forward them to the broker for presentation to U.S. Customs, while a shipment is in transit to the border.

Reimer Express Lines Ltd. and its parent Roadway Express Inc. have been involved with U.S. Customs developing PAPS over the past several years, and were among the first carriers selected in Customs’ pilot project.

Border locations where Reimer Express Lines Ltd. now participates in PAPS include Port Huron, MI, Champlain and Niagara Falls, NY, and Pembina, ND, with plans to add Detroit, MI and Blaine, WA in 2001.
