Rick Gaetz named President and CEO of Vitran Corp.

Vitran Corporation Inc., a North American transportation and logistics firm, today announced that Rick E. Gaetz,
44, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company.

Gaetz will take over on May 2, the date of the company’s annual meeting of shareholders.

Gaetz, currently President and Chief Operating Officer of Vitran’s Distribution Systems, succeeds Richard D. McGraw who has been President and Chief Executive Officer since he co-founded the business in 1983.

McGraw will become non-executive Chairman of the Board,
replacing Anthony F. Griffiths, also a co-founder of the Company, who remains on Vitran’s Board.

Commenting on Mr. Gaetz’s appointment, McGraw stated, “I
anticipate a seamless transition as Rick has done an excellent job overseeing our freight distribution operations since joining the company in 1989. Rick has in excess of 20 years experience in the transportation and logistics industry and has been with Vitran for the past 13 years.”

Gaetz says Vitran is ideally positioned to capitalize on
the North American economic recovery, which is currently in the early stages of a rebound.

“Rick McGraw has been instrumental in our company’s growth and success and I am excited about assuming his role
in leading Vitran at this important time. I also look forward to working closely with Rick in his new role as Chairman of our Board,” Gaetz added.
