Schneider Logistics opens first Canadian regional logistics centre

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Schneider Logistics has expanded its brokerage services with the opening of a new regional logistics centre (RLC) in Toronto. This new addition is Schneider’s first RLC outside the US.

“Our regional logistics centers in the United States have had great success in becoming one-stop shops that connect our customers with any mode of transportation and effectively meet their transportation needs, whether they are focused on cost, transit time or both,” said Mitch Weckop, general manager of transportation for Schneider Logistics. “Many of our US-based customers also ship in Canada, so adding an RLC in Toronto was a logical next step in helping provide them with top-quality service abroad.”

Schneider Logistics began to expand its brokerage capabilities in 2005 with the opening of its original RLC in Evanston, Ill. This area of the business has since grown to include four more logistics centres located in
Atlanta, Chicago (formerly Evanston), Dallas and Reno and a network of third-party carriers more than 10,000 strong.

“With the addition of our new Toronto-based RLC, we expand our ability to provide the best shipping solutions for our customers while growing our relationships with independent transportation providers,” Weckop said. “We are building up our infrastructure now in order to provide customers with a leg up when the market turns. More relationships means more capacity capacity that we know our customers will need.”

Through Schneider’s RLCs, customers interact with a single sales representative who has the capability to match them with the best transportation mode for their needs from truckload to intermodal to lessthan truckload.
