SCL to focus on legalities of logistics

Coming this December 5th, the Canadian Association of Supply Chain & Logistics Management (SCL)Toronto Chapter is hosting a seminar entitled the Legalities of Logistics, a session that will focus on critical legal issues facing the transportation industry today.

Topics to be covered include:
* Damage to shipments – limitations of liability, indemnities and insurance
* Intellectual Property – protection of ownership rights in proprietary
information technology
* Customer Bankruptcy – carrier rights, statutory liens and priorities
* Cross Border issues – the impact of 9/11 on service levels
* Managing the customer change-order process
* Important recent cases decided by the courts

In this session, participants will learn:
* Legal rights and potential liabilities of 3PL providers and carriers
* Latest trends from the courts
* To identify best practices in contract drafting

The session will be led by Steve Trumper, a partner in the Business Law Department of Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, a leading Canadian business law firm. Steve regularly provides advice to clients in the outsourcing, 3PL and transportation industries.
