Stephen Laskowski has been appointed to the position of vice president of the association effective July 1st, 2005.
In his new position, Laskowski will take a leading role in the day-to-day operation and strategic planning of OTA.
Laskowski joined OTA in 1994 and held progressively more responsible positions. In his most recent role, he served as assistant vice president. Known as a passionate and knowledgeable defender of industry interests, Laskowski is well-regarded in industry and government circles. He has spent a significant amount of time in recent years on intermodal, environmental and tax issues. He has also built a solid understanding of issues at the major Ontario-US border crossings.
"Stephen has developed over the past ten years into an exceptional lobbyist and an effective manager. I know he will do a great job of handling his new responsibilities," says OTA President David Bradley.
And, like Bradley, Laskowski also wears both an OTA hat and a CTA hat (he is CTA vice president of economic affairs). Stephen Laskowski holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from McMaster University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario. He also maintains a Class D driver’s licence, having driven for an OTA member company during his student days. He resides in Beamsville, ON with his wife and daughter.
In the role of OTA vice president, Laskowski succeeds Barrie Montague, whose career in the trucking industry spans over 35 years. Before joining OTA 12 years ago, Montague was president of a major Ontario tank truck company. He will be staying on as a Senior Policy Advisor to OTA, a position that will provide him with the opportunity to devote more time to pursue personal interests, including travel.
