Swissport and Cargolux partner

Zurich, Switzerland—Swissport is now the preferred supplier of Cargolux and provides the company with cargo and ramp handling services at selected destinations. Shared clients of Swissport and Cargolux will benefit from further improved quality standards. The cooperation between Swissport and Cargolux covers a five-year period and extends to stations in Europe and the US. Further destinations are to follow in the near future.

The aim in teaming up the world’s leading ground and cargo handling provider with Europe’s largest cargo airline is to further improve quality standards at the respective stations in a joint effort to provide shared customers with best-of-breed cargo services across the globe. The two companies will closely cooperate to expand their global network in a coordinated effort.

Cargolux, based in Luxembourg, is Europe’s leading all-cargo airline with a fleet composed of 11 Boeing 747-8 freighters and 11 Boeing 747-400 freighters. The Cargolux worldwide network covers 90 destinations, 60 of which are served on scheduled all-cargo flights. The company has more than 85 offices in over 50 countries, and also offers an extensive global trucking network to more than 250 destinations as well as charter and aircraft maintenance services. Cargolux employs over 1,500 staff worldwide.

Swissport International Ltd. is the world´s largest provider of ground and cargo handling services in the aviation industry. The company provides ground services on behalf of some 700 client-companies and handles around 224 million passengers and 3.9 million flights per year. The company operates 120 warehouses and moves approx. 4.1 million tonnes of cargo. With a workforce of around 55,000 personnel, Swissport is active at more than 265 stations in 45 countries across five continents, and generates annual consolidated operating revenue of CHF 3 billion.
