Toyota introduces the 7FBEU AC electric 3-wheeler lift truck

Toyota Canada Inc., Industrial Equipment Division (TCI-IED) has introduced the 7FBEU 3-Wheeler lift truck with an Active Mast Control (AMC) system for load stability and AC electric drive and hydraulics for improved productivity.

Offering a capacity of 3,000 4,000 lbs and available with cushion or pneumatic tires, the 7FBEU is designed for food, wholesale and retail applications, the company says.

Each subsystem of the forklift is designed to either conserve or regenerate power for maximum productivity between battery charges. The AC drive and hydraulic system, available in 36 or 48 Volt configurations, offers fast response to operating commands, precise power control, compact components and longer shift life on the same charge shift. Toyota’s AC power system includes energy recovery provided by three forms of regenerative technology: coast control (accelerator released), plug braking (changing direction forward to reverse) and foot braking (also extends brake component life).

The Power Keep Function allows the AC motor to continue to perform at productive levels, even when the battery is low. AC drive motors are transversely mounted on the same axis, providing less mechanical energy lost and higher transmission efficiency than traditional DC power systems. The auto-off system on the 7FBEU is seat-activated and programmable to conserve battery power, while transistorized drive and hydraulic controls work in conjunction with performance parameters to tailor the lift truck’s performance and operation. Momentary hold/controlled descent regulates rolling speed down a grade and allows the lift truck to be started on an incline without rolling backwards.

The AC drive system is virtually maintenance-free, according to Toyota, with self-diagnostics that include built-in analyzer capabilities and a programmable maintenance hour meter for quick and easy troubleshooting. The 7FBEU features on-demand, full hydrostatic power steering controlled through the AC hydraulic motor system, eliminating an additional motor to service and providing maximum maneuverability in confined work environments.

Toyota’s new LCD digital display provides instant access to virtually every aspect of the lift truck’s performance and operating systems to help maximize productivity. The Power Select Function provides four password-protected performance parameters (three pre-set, one custom) to conform to a range of job applications and operator skill levels. A wide range of digital display functions simplifies the study of time, motion and related performance characteristics, while the tuning mode allows additional adjustments to be made in the traveling and hydraulic features for further customizing.
