Unisys and Air Canada extend air cargo relationship

BLUE BELL, Pa.–Unisys Corporation and Air Canada have extended contracts for two Unisys air cargo solutions-hosting & Integration Services and Cargo Portal Services (CPS)-for three years. The contract extensions were signed in the fourth quarter of 2005.

The Unisys solutions are designed to help Air Canada lower IT costs and facilitate greater competitive agility, says Unisys.

“We are pleased to renew our commitment to Unisys in order to deliver world-class service levels, visibility and security for our clients,” said Claude Morin, president, Air Canada Cargo.

Under the terms of the Hosting & Integration Services agreement, Unisys will host the Unisys Logistics Management System (LMS) in the Unisys data center in Eagan, Minn. The other solution for Air Canada, CPS, is a full-service Internet portal for the air cargo industry. It brings together a range of carriers and forwarders in a neutral and innovative portal with cross-market appeal, with aim to reduce transaction costs and automate key processes. Unisys systems are used to process approximately 31 percent of the world’s air cargo.

“Air Canada has been at the forefront among cargo services providers in offering freight forwarders innovative IT options to further their business objectives,” said Christopher Shawdon, vice president, Logistics Solutions, Unisys. “By extending our relationship, Unisys and Air Canada can continue to innovate with services that provide secure business operations for global traders.”
