UPS Canada announces new president

United Parcel Service today yesterday that Alan Gershenhorn, a 23-year veteran of UPS, has been promoted to president of UPS Canada.
Gershenhorn, will be responsible for all UPS operations in Canada, where UPS has been operating since 1975.
Gershenhorn began his UPS career in 1979, and has held positions of increasing responsibility in operations, engineering and marketing. His assignments have taken him to the United States, Germany, and to Canada where he served as vice-president of Marketing and later as vice-president of Operations. He was instrumental in launching a variety of new products and services designed to facilitate domestic and cross border trade for businesses.
In his most recent position as a vice-president in the UPS Corporate Strategy Group, Gershenhorn was responsible for the global retail strategy and operations including over 70,000 access points. He also managed the global transition and integration of recently acquired Mail Boxes Etc., Inc. In 1999, as vice-president of UPS International Marketing, his responsibilities included worldwide products, global e-commerce, global revenue management, international brand communications and corporate international marketing liaison to region offices in Europe, Asia Pacific, Americas and Canada.
Gershenhorn replaces Scott Corrigan, who has accepted an assignment as region manager of UPS’s Midwest region based in Columbus, Ohio. Corrigan will be responsible for the geographical areas of Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky with approximately 25,000 employees.
