MISSISSAUGA, ON– UPS has launched package shipping services for Canadian eBay users, enabling them to easily ship goods to buyers within or outside Canada via UPS.
By integrating UPS service options directly into the Canadian eBay site, as is already the case on eBay’s U.S. site, users will be able to ship within Canada and internationally just with one click of their computer mouse, says the company.
The UPS shipping tools allow eBay sellers to calculate costs, request a UPS pick-up, track shipments, review transit times and print shipping labels all at the point of transaction. Both international and domestic UPS shipping labels are available and can be paid for via PayPal, an online payment system.
Benefits to eBay buyers include the ability to control costs using the time-in-transit and service calculator tools to best determine which UPS service to choose.
According to eBay, 724,000 eBay sellers in North America rely on eBay sales for their primary or secondary income. This is equivalent to the combined population of Victoria, B.C., and Windsor, ON. Another 1.5 million individuals say they supplement their income by selling through eBay.
“The integration of UPS’s shipping tools for Canadian users on eBay Canada (www.ebay.ca) will help simplify intra-Canadian and cross-border trading for our members,” says Elmer Sotto, head of marketplace development, eBay Canada. “Our community of users has asked for more shipping capabilities and we are delighted to team up with UPS to respond to their request.”
Since December 2000 In the United States, eBay and UPS created a shipping information center on the eBay website for domestic U.S. shipments. Soon after, eBay integrated UPS shipping tools into the PayPal payment process. Then in December 2005, eBay.com began offering international package shipping by UPS for U.S.-based eBay users.
“UPS is providing our customers with convenient shipping services that address their global commerce needs by synchronizing all points of the business process,” said Wayne Bosch, vice president of e-commerce and professional services, UPS Canada. “Our relationship with eBay is an important dimension of this strategy as many small and mid-sized businesses use the eBay marketplace as a major resource, particularly to reach international buyers.”
