UPS Logistics Group opens Vaughan facility

by Canadian Shipper

UPS Logistics Group has officially opened a new 212,000 square foot facility in Vaughan, Ontario. The facility was created to support a complete supply chain solution for Baxter Corporation (Baxter), the Canadian subsidiary of Baxter International Inc.

Solutions include integrated order processing and fulfillment, barcode scanning and cycle counting for efficient inventory control, quality assurance processes, and product delivery. The solution enables UPS Logistics to receive Baxter customer orders for picking, scheduling, shipping and customer service including shipment tracking.

“Handing their logistics requirements over to UPS Logistics allows our clients to continually improve their products and services. This facility houses the best technology, management and resources to help our client meet their customers’ needs in the ever-changing healthcare supply and demand environment,” said Rick Spencer, president, UPS Logistics Group in Canada.

The building has radio frequency technology in its warehouse, EDI connectivity between UPS Logistics and Baxter, internet-based inventory status, order status and receipt status. Its automated transportation routing and cross-docking services provide the flexibility that Baxter’s customers are seeking.

Two other UPS Logistics facilities, one in Calgary and the other in St. John’s Newfoundland, with the same level of standards and requirements will support Baxter’s logistics needs for customers in the West and in the Atlantic provinces.

UPS Logistics has 22 facilities in Canada and more than 500 worldwide in 60+ countries. The new facility is the second UPS Logistics supply chain operation to be built in the city of Vaughan. The first one provides full customer service and supply chain services for a global healthcare manufacturer of pharmaceutical products.
