Vaisala breaks into Canadian market with first AWOS installation

Vaisala Group, an international technology group that develops and manufactures electronic measurement systems and equipment for the transportation sector,. has entered the Canadian market with the hire of a Canadian-based sales engineer and the installation of the first ever AWOS (automated weather observing system) in Canada.

The British Columbia city of 108 Mile Ranch, a destination resort town with approximately 4,000 weekly flights, has purchased an AWOS for its 108 South Cariboo Regional Airport.

"AWOS are a great opportunity for Canadian airports to increase their airspace safety," said Karl Boivin who was recently named sales engineer and is responsible for introducing and selling Vaisala’s surface weather products.
