Gartner names top supply chain technology trends for 2025

Advancements in artificial intelligence, robotics and automation will shape supply chains in 2025, according to new research from Gartner Inc.

The firm has identified key technology trends that will help supply chain leaders enhance efficiency, improve workforce productivity and develop new operational models.

“This year’s trends highlight the transformative potential of connectivity and intelligence in supply chains, enabling leaders to enhance operational efficiency and adaptability,” said Christian Titze, vice-president, analyst and chief of research in Gartner’s supply chain practice.

Among the top trends are agentic AI, polyfunctional robots and ambient invisible intelligence, which uses small, low-cost smart tags and sensors for real-time supply chain tracking. Other emerging technologies include decision intelligence, autonomous data collection and intelligent simulation.

“These trends offer multiple strategic pathways for organizations to innovate and excel in a rapidly evolving environment,” said Kaitlynn Sommers, senior director analyst at Gartner.

Gartner suggests companies prioritize these technologies based on business needs to remain competitive.
