UPS has completed its acquisition of Andlauer Healthcare Group Inc. (AHG), a Canadian-based supply chain management company specializing in health care logistics and cold chain transportation.
Under the deal, AHG shareholders will receive $55 per share in cash, valuing the transaction at about $2.2 billion (US$1.6 billion).
The purchase expands UPS’s healthcare logistics capabilities and strengthens its presence in the North American market. The company said the addition of AHG’s cold chain network will reduce transit times, improve visibility and enhance quality assurance for customers.
“At UPS Healthcare, we are relentlessly focused on quality, improving patient outcomes and advancing health care delivery and we are thrilled that Andlauer Healthcare Group, and its talented employees, share that focus,” said Kate Gutmann, executive vice-president and president of international, health care and supply chain Solutions for UPS. “We will provide industry-leading services to our global customers, built on a foundation of quality, precision and speed all designed to help manage high-value, temperature-sensitive treatments.”
Michael Andlauer, founder and CEO of AHG, will lead UPS Canada Healthcare and AHG, guiding the expansion of specialized services to meet growing demand in the health care sector.
