Brookfield to acquire global air freight services provider World Freight Company

Brookfield, through its private equity business, says it has agreed to acquire World Freight Company, a global air freight services provider and the world’s largest general sales and service agent.

World Freight Company (WFC), founded in 2004, represents airlines to sell and manage cargo capacity while coordinating booking, handling and shipment oversight. It serves more than 300 airlines on 3,500 trade lanes and more than 16,000 freight forwarders across over 80 countries.

“World Freight Company is a high-quality platform operating in a critical segment of the resilient global air freight ecosystem, supported by long-standing customer relationships,” said Alex Yang, managing partner, private equity, Brookfield. “With its global scale, local capabilities and leading market position, WFC is well positioned to benefit from industry consolidation. We look forward to supporting the business by applying our operational playbook – investing behind technology and strengthening commercial execution – to support its next phase of growth as a scaled provider of essential services to the air freight industry.”

The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

Brookfield says its private equity arm has long experience owning essential services businesses and operating companies in sectors providing critical products and services.
