FedEx, Dexterity expand physical AI collaboration at U.S. hub

FedEx Corp. and Dexterity Inc. are expanding their collaboration to deploy Dexterity’s Foresight world model and Mech trailer-loading systems at the FedEx Hagerstown Hub in Maryland.

The deployment moves the technology beyond a previous pilot site and into a larger operational environment following several years of joint development, testing and validation. The companies say the initiative will focus on improving safety, consistency and performance in trailer-loading operations.

Trailer loading is among the most physically demanding tasks in parcel logistics and has historically been difficult to automate using traditional technology. FedEx loads tens of thousands of trailers daily across its U.S. network.

Dexterity’s system uses Foresight, a physical AI world model that combines vision, depth and touch to make real-time decisions in dynamic environments. The technology powers Mech, a dual-armed robot designed for heavy industrial operations and compact enough to work inside trailers.
