AfterShip launches AI tools to automate post‑purchase operations

AfterShip has launched a new AI platform called AfterShip Intelligence, designed to automate post‑purchase tasks such as tracking, returns and exception handling. The company says the tools are built on 14 years of shipment data covering more than 11 billion shipments and 1,400 carriers.

AfterShip says retailers can use the system to predict delivery issues, automate routine work and improve customer experience. Launch partners Dr. Squatch and Naked Wardrobe are reporting faster exception resolution, fewer “where is my order” tickets and quicker return reviews.

“For years, post‑purchase has been treated as a cost center, but it’s one of the most valuable moments in the customer journey,” said Teddy Chan, founder and CEO of AfterShip. “We built AfterShip Intelligence to automate the work that slows teams down and predict issues before customers feel them.”

At the center of the launch is AfterShip Agent, an AI tool for exception handling and return merchandise authorization review. The agent identifies shipment issues, gathers context and recommends resolutions, with human approval required for financial or customer‑facing decisions.

Retailers can also use predictive delivery dates, at‑risk order alerts, product recommendations and AI‑powered exchange suggestions aimed at retaining revenue.

“We want our team spending its time where human judgment adds the most value,” said Jackie Avila, head of customer service at Naked Wardrobe. “AfterShip Intelligence helps us automate straightforward decisions while giving our team the context they need when a return requires a closer look.”
