Minister Robertson meets B.C. industry leaders on U.S. tariff impacts

Minister Gregor Robertson met with leaders from some of British Columbia’s most affected industries to discuss the ongoing U.S. trade situation and its impacts on workers, businesses and supply chains. The meeting included representatives from sectors facing significant exposure to U.S. trade actions and those supporting a wide range of impacted businesses.

Industry leaders outlined challenges including pressures on workers and business owners, supply chain disruptions, uncertainty for exporters and the need for continued support as the situation evolves. Their input will help shape the federal response for B.C. businesses.

The meeting follows the federal government’s announcement of $7.5 billion in new and enhanced support for businesses affected by U.S. tariffs. This includes an additional $1.5 billion for the Regional Tariff Response Initiative, building on the $1.95 billion previously announced. Through PacifiCan, B.C. businesses can access the RTRI and be connected to other federal supports.

The federal government continues to engage with industry, workers, provinces and territories, Indigenous partners and other stakeholders as it responds to U.S. trade measures and works to diversify trade.

“British Columbians are feeling the effects of this trade uncertainty, and we need to hear directly from the workers, businesses and industries on the front lines,” said Robertson.
