Transplace names industry leader to further grow its cross-border and intra-Mexico business

DALLAS, Tex.–Transplace has announced the appointment of Sonney Jones as sales director for the company’s Mexico division. Jones supplements a strong leadership team and will focus on providing cross-border and intra-Mexico logistics services to a growing number of customers, said a release.

Jones joins Transplace with deep expertise in transportation operations and sales with an industrial engineering background. Most recently, Jones served as transportation director for Daltile, a division of Mohawk Industries, where he provided strategic oversight of varied transportation services. In conjunction with Transplace, Jones led the development and implementation of co-loading program, TransMATCH, for Daltile with Whirlpool Corporation, Convermex and Werner Co. in order to optimize capacity utilization and reduce transportation costs.

For these efforts, Daltile and its shipper partners won the 2012 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) Innovation Award. Jones has also served as corporate industrial engineer for YRC Freight and manager, solutions design, Americas for Crowley Logistics.
