Owens & Minor, Inc. broke ground in Morgantown, West Virginia, on the site of a centre of excellence for medical supplies and logistics. Once construction is completed in late 2023, the 350,000-square-foot facility will be one of the state’s largest dedicated acute care medical distribution facilities and will include clinical supply capabilities for surgical kitting, custom procedure tray assembly and sterilization. Owens & Minor was joined for the groundbreaking by its local partner, West Virginia University Health System.

Macy’s

Macy’s, Inc. plans to open a new fulfillment centre in China Grove, North Carolina in 2024 to meet the growing demands of its omnichannel business. The 1.4 million-square-foot facility, with automated direct-to-consumer fulfillment capacity, will employ nearly 2,800 workers when fully operational. Macy’s will invest approximately US$584 million in this project. The China Grove Fulfillment Center will account for nearly 30 percent of Macy’s, Inc.’s digital supply chain capacity and serve customers across the U.S. The automation includes a goods-to-person and pocket sorter system. The company is also expanding its DC in Houston, Texas. The nearly one-million-square-foot distribution facility will be completed in mid-2023 and will support stores in the region as well as provide online fulfillment during peak season for furniture, bedding and toys.

Stord

Stord is expanding its warehouse capacity in three key U.S. markets to meet increased demand amid record-low vacancy rates. The expansion includes 780,000 square feet of new warehouse space in regions where availability is scarce: Las Vegas, Nevada; Reno, Nevada; and New Haven, Connecticut – three of six nodes in Stord’s fulfillment network.
