Marken creates global pharmaceutical depot network

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, North Carolina—Clinical supply chain solutions provider, Marken, has completed the first phase of its expansion plans.

The company has opened new pharmaceutical depots in New York, New York and Frankfurt, Germany. These centralized depots form a network that includes operational depots in Singapore, Mexico, and Argentina, along with a third-party depot system.

The temperature-controlled DCs are designed to store and distribute the drugs, medical devices and diagnostic equipment necessary to run large, Phase III clinical trials of new medications and treatments.

They are located near existing Marken branch operations to benefit from easy access to the company’s existing customer service personnel, import /export teams and administrative support. The DCs are are connected via the Solo platform—a cloud based inventory management system which interfaces with an interactive response technology (IRT) system for inventory reconciliation. Solo also allows clients to track dosages at the patient level.

“Phase One is complete. We are now pushing forward with Phase Two, which will include more depots in key countries around the world such as China, Brazil and Russia,” said Gerit Offenhauser, senior-vice president, clinical trials distribution for Marken.
