GREEN BAY, Wisconsin—Record-setting freight volumes coming through the Port of New York and New Jersey means shippers have been having a hard time securing enough drayage, transloading and warehousing services to meet demand.
With extensive warehouse, transload and port services coverage already established in the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic and West Coast, Schneider has opened a new 147,500 square foot warehouse in Port Reading, NJ, to serve shippers using Northeastern ports.
The new facility provides ample storage space while meeting shippers’ security and safety specifications:
- Fenced-in facility
- Guarded and controlled entrance
- Clear height of 36 feet
- Early suppression, fast response (ESFR) sprinkler system
- 23 dock doors
- Space for 35 trailers spots (plus off-site yard availability)
Additionally, the warehouse’s location is conveniently positioned near the Port of New York and New Jersey, the New Jersey Turnpike, Newark International Airport and other key facilities, such as FedEx and UPS.
“Our new warehouse meets the needs of our customers as well as the demands of the industry,” said John Miller, vice president of commercial development, transloading and distribution. “In this new location, we’re able to match up port services with outbound truckload, intermodal and team expedited services, offering a seamless approach to customers’ port-to-door requirements.”
Schneider’s portfolio of services within its Port Logistics division includes over 6.5 million square feet of warehouse and transload space in California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Virginia and, most recently, New Jersey, along with dray capability in 36 markets throughout the United States.
