Shoppers Drug Mart DC opens in Cornwall

A new and state-of-the-art building has opened in Cornwall, Ontario.

The building is Shoppers Drug Mart’s new distribution centre, a building the company says is one of Ontario’s largest.

The DC will begin servicing Shoppers Drug Mart and Pharmaprix stores in Eastern Ontario and Quebec later this year.

The new DC is located in the Cornwall Business Park on a 64-acre parcel of land and measures 550,000 square feet and has 75 shipping docks.

Ceilings are 45-feet above the floor and glass detailing on the concrete walls allows for natural sunlight.

The building includes 24,000 square feet of offices and was designed by PDA Architects, engineered by Delcan and built by JMC Construction.

Matrix Logistics Services Ltd, which is a division of Exel Logistics, will operate the building.

Shoppers Drug Mart had announced the new DC and its location in 2008. The DC is expected to create more than 130 full-time positions.

The Cornwall Business Park is located along Highway 401 – Canada’s busiest expressway. Canada’s main rail line and fibre optic network also bisect the park, which is home to more than 50 companies.
