DHLink, the logistics arm of DHGATE Group (a B2B cross-border e-commerce marketplace in China), has teamed up with Canadian logistics provider, UniUni. Together the companies will manage cross-border shipments for DHgate customers. DHLink and UniUni will also explore opportunities to boost trade volume between China and Canada. The companies intend to explore collaboration and provide more service possibilities to expand the distribution business for local sellers in Canada, North America and beyond.
Toronto-based GoBolt has raised another $75 million, bringing the total funds raised to date to more than $222.5 million. This investment was led by Yaletown Venture Partners and Export Development Canada (EDC), with participation from BDC Capital, Northleaf Capital Partners, Whitecap Venture Partners, MIG Group, BMO Capital Partners and Ingka Investments, the investment arm of Ingka Group, the main IKEA retailer.
Amogy Inc., which builds emission-free, energy-dense ammonia power solutions, is buying three 200kW FCwave engines from Ballard Power Systems. Ballard will deliver the engines in 2023 for maritime deployment. A follow-on order for an additional seven FCwave engines is expected upon successful completion of the initial projects.
WestJet Cargo has confirmed the launch of its four dedicated Boeing 737-800 freighters on March 26, 2023. The company had planned an earlier launch, but ran into regulatory issues around approvals of the jets for Canadian operations.
CMA CGM will acquire GCT Bayonne and GCT New York terminals, currently held by Global Container Terminals Inc (GCT). The terminals an existing combined capacity of two million TEUs per year, with room to double that. Bayonne terminal can service vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs. CMA CGM says it plans to increase the combined capacity by up to 80 percent in the coming years. The company now operates seven terminals in the US.
