Trimac buys bulk carrier

CALGARY, Alberta: Liquid Cargo Lines Limited (LCL) is now under the ownership of Trimac Transportation Ltd.

LCL, a bulk carrier company specializing in the transportation of chemicals and asphalt, was purchased for $1,986,000 million in a deal that saw Calgary-based Trimac acquiring all the outstanding LCL shares from McCaig Real Estate Ltd. Trimac chair and CEO Jeffrey McCaig controls McCaig Real Estate.

By purchasing LCL, Trimac acquires all of the company’s assets, including 42 trailers, 22 power units and eight owner/operator units. It also takes over the lease of LCL’s headquarters which is situated on five hectares (13 acres) in Mississauga, Ontario. That building includes mechanical shop facilities and a commercial tank washing facility, which is currently leased and operated by a division of Trimac known as National Tank Services (NTS).

In addition to NTS and LCL, Trimac runs Bulk Plus Logistics, a subsidiary that offers 3PL services. Trimac’s primary business is bulk trucking services.
