Otto Motors

Carolyn Garvey and Donald Leslie have joined Otto Motors as co-presidents. They report directly to CEO Matthew Rendall. Garvey will work closely with the manufacturing and operations teams and Leslie with sales and service. Garvey and Leslie join Kitchener, Ontario-based Otto from Barrie, Ontario-based Prodomax Automation Ltd. where they served as co-CEOs. The pair grew Prodomax into one of North America’s largest automation companies. During their leadership Prodomax saw a more than sixfold increase in valuation in three years. Garvey and Leslie have expertise in leading teams of professionals from around the world to engineer, build and install integrated automation systems for blue chip automotive industry customers.

FedEx

Fred Perpall has been elected a director of FedEx Corporation. The board also appointed Perpall as a member of its audit and nominating and governance committees. Perpall is CEO of The Beck Group, a design-build firm. He also serves as a director of Triumph Bancorp, Inc. and Starwood Property Trust, Inc. Perpall sits on the board of councilors for The Carter Center. He has a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and is a member of the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows, an alumnus of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program, and a former Americas fellow at The Baker Institute at Rice University.

BuildDirect

Vancouver-based building materials marketplace BuildDirect.com Technologies Inc. has appointed David Lazar to the role of interim CEO. The appointment remains subject to receipt of all required regulatory approvals, including the approval of the TSX Venture Exchange. Most recently Lazar held the role of CEO at Bailey 44, an apparel company where he helped position the company for sale to Digital Brands Group in February 2020. He has also held a range of CEO and senior executive roles with organizations including Wantable Inc., Joyus Inc., Stitch Fix, Twenty Tees, in addition to advising Facebook on its retail strategy (FB Shops).
