Who’s on the move: February 13, 2017

The Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) has appointed Christian Alan Buhagiar as president and CEO. Buhagiar comes to SCMA from the Institute of Corporate Directors, where he was vice-president of education. In this role he was responsible for the Institute’s governance education and director designation programs, the delivery of national events, and strategic and business planning as a member of the executive team. In addition, he has a wealth of experience in the non-profit, private, academic, and public sectors, including federal and provincial politics. He is a recognized governance expert with a wealth of board level experience. Buhagiar also served as director of research planning, communications and government relations at York University.

Andrew Hider has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of ATS Automation Tooling Systems Inc (ATS). Current CEO Anthony Caputo will be stepping down and resigning from the Board of Directors as of February 15, 2017. Hider will assume leadership of ATS on March 6, 2017. Most recently, Hider served as president and CEO of the Taylor Made Group, LLC, a global suplier of products and systems for marine, transportation, agriculture, and construction markets. Before that, Hider served for 10 years at Danaher Corporation. He began his career with General Electric. Hider holds a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering and Management and a Masters of Business Administration, both from Clarkson University.

uShip, the online shipping marketplace and freight automation software provider, has appointed enterprise software veteran Mike Williams has  CEO and board member. Jim Martell, a 40-year veteran of the logistics industry, has been named executive chairman of uShip’s board. Martell served as uShip’s interim CEO since December 1, 2016. Williams joins uShip after serving as GM of corporate real estate (CRE) Services with Accruent. He also brings experience serving as either CEO or president for three companies, including Socialware, Nextance and PurchasingNet, as well as roles at Motorola, Trilogy and Memento. Williams has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Finance from Murray State University. He’s also worked with the FBI, the U.S. Embassy in Athens and The White House.
