FedEx Corp. announced the appointment of Scott Ray as chief operating officer for U.S. and Canada surface operations, effective June 1. He will begin transitioning into the role as COO-elect on Feb. 1. Reporting to FedEx President and CEO Raj Subramaniam, Ray will be the newest member of the FedEx Executive Committee, succeeding John Smith, who will transition to CEO of FedEx Freight as of June 1.

Ray will be responsible for leading all aspects of surface operations in the U.S. and Canada, from the daily operations of safely and reliably delivering millions of packages every day, to ensuring the effective execution and implementation of strategic initiatives, including Network 2.0.
