2016 Inland Ports Conference

2016 Inland Ports Conference

An inland port is a distribution hub designed to facilitate the movement of international shipments more efficiently from the receiving seaport to the hinterland for ultimate distribution.  Inland ports are an integral component of the Canadian port system.

With seaports growing in size and capacity, an inland port provides a counterbalance connecting the seaport with the inland port through a dedicated rail line and/or road network that carries containers from the ships directly to the inland port to be distributed from that location.

This Conference will identify and celebrate the present and future economic benefits derived by the community and the province in which the inland port is located.

The Conference will discuss the role of airports as part of an inland port, as well as hearing from shippers and transportation service providers as to their view as to the benefits to be derived from the establishment of a network of inland ports across Western Canada.
