Parrish and Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is set to develop a new distribution centre at the Port of Hamilton.
The grain and poultry shipper has finalized a lease agreement with the Hamilton Port Authority (HPA) to lease 380,000sqf at the port’s Pier 10.
P&H and HPA intend for the new facility to be a multi-modal hub for grain and other agricultural products, allowing for smooth cargo transfer between marine, rail and truck.
The facility will allow P&H to expand its marine shipping capabilities, which will support its network of primary and terminal elevators across Canada, as well as its merchandising and transportation groups.
“Hamilton is a key strategic location for our long-term investment in eastern Canada and we are very excited about helping our customers improve their competitive positions through new and efficient distribution channels,” said Robert Bryson, P&H’s director of eastern Canadian grain operations.”
HPA president and CEO Bruce Wood shared his optimism.
“Grain is and will continue to be a core commodity for the Canadian economy and the P&H development in Hamilton supports our strategic focus on developing multimodal facilities and attracting jobs and investment to the Port of Hamilton.”
