Windsor Essex Mobility Group has been named as the preferred proponent for the finance, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Windsor-Essex Parkway project in Windsor.
The parkway is the Canadian access road portion of an end-to-end border transportation system through Canada’s busiest trade corridor. The system will include new inspection plazas, a new international bridge, and a direct connection to the US interstate system.
Windsor Essex Mobility Group–an equity consortium of Fluor Canada Ltd, ACS Infrastructure Canada Inc, and Acciona Concessions Canada Inc–is a member of Parkway Infrastructure Constructors, the design-build joint venture that will perform the design and construction activities for the project.
The Windsor-Essex Parkway will be an approximately 11-kilometre, six-lane freeway with wide-cut and cover tunnels, connecting bridges, and earth-retaining structures. The project will include local service roads, interchanges, landscaped parklands and recreational walking and cycling trails.
The project is the first phase of a program to connect Highway 401 in Ontario to Interstate 75 in Michigan through a proposed new crossing over the Detroit River.
