IQMS opens dedicated IoT and automation development centre

PASO ROBLES and PLEASANTON, California — IQMS, a manufacturing ERP software and manufacturing execution system (MES) provider, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the company’s new Internet of Things (IoT) and Automation product development office in Pleasanton, California.

The 30-person facility provides an environment for developing smart manufacturing systems that apply the Internet of Things (IoT) and other enabling technologies to lean and Industry 4.0 manufacturing principles. The move comes as IQMS continues to expand the scope of its enterprise resource planning (ERP) system in providing manufacturers with the technology to establish operations that optimize automation, quality assurance, and supply chain excellence.

“We are seeing a resurgence of manufacturing in North America based on the growing ability of companies here to deliver high quality products, reliably and cost-effectively. For these manufacturers, ERP and MES solutions have been central to operating their first-class facilities,” said Gary Nemmers, IQMS CEO. “Our new Pleasanton office furthers our commitment to driving new innovations in smart manufacturing that enhance our customers’ ability to compete in the global market.”

The Pleasanton corridor has emerged as a centre of ERP companies—with many of the industry’s largest firms establishing headquarters or regional offices in or nearby the city. By locating its new IoT and Automation product development office in Pleasanton, IQMS is able to tap into a local workforce with strong expertise in enterprise resource planning technologies and best practices.

“The formula for success in manufacturing today is based on five factors: quality, high service levels, flexible scheduling, automation, and proximity to major end user markets. At the same time, the principles of smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 used to deliver on these requirements are built on a backbone of IoT, cloud, big data, analytics, automation, and machine integration technologies,” said Dan Radunz, IQMS CTO. “The Pleasanton location gives us access to the engineering talent we need to capitalize on those technologies for the benefit of our customers.”

Development initiatives at the new Pleasanton office are being led by Trevor Diehl, vice-president of MES production development at IQMS, who has played a strategic role in IQMS’s automation efforts for more than seven years.

“Our customers compete worldwide on the ability to maximize their manufacturing productivity, efficiency and quality,” said Diehl. “Our new Pleasanton office expands IQMS’s ability to help manufacturers automate their production operations in order to meet these goals. Additionally, along with our Paso Robles offices, it gives us access to some of the top manufacturing and software engineering talent in North America.”
