Descartes acquires transportation management solutions company

Descartes Systems Group has acquired 3GTMS, a U.S.-based transportation management solutions provider, in a deal worth approximately US$115 million.

Descartes, a Canadian, global logistics technology company, said the acquisition enhances its ability to manage truckload, less-than-truckload (LTL) and parcel shipments in North America.

“3G’s solution footprint for freight in North America is highly complementary, bringing strong domestic transportation management functionality,” said Andrew Roszko, Descartes’ chief commercial officer. “When combined with Descartes’ existing transportation management tools and our global logistics network, we see a tremendous opportunity to deliver even more value to our combined customer base.”

Descartes CEO Edward J. Ryan said both companies have been focused on digitizing and managing shipments and that he looks forward to integrating 3G’s technology and team.

3G, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, provides cloud-based solutions for shippers, third-party logistics providers and freight brokers.
