McDougall Energy buys fuel, logistics firms

McDougall Energy Inc. and McDougall Transportation Inc. have acquired Meridian Fuels and Northern Freight & Logistics in a move aimed at expanding energy and transportation services in northeastern Ontario.

The companies said the acquisition of the Cochrane, Ont.-based businesses was finalized Feb. 10.

The deal brings together family-owned companies serving commercial, industrial, mining and residential customers in the Cochrane region and surrounding areas.

“This acquisition brings together decades of industry experience, shared values, and a strong commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality energy services,” the companies said in a release.

Founded in 1949 and headquartered in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., McDougall Energy is a third-generation, family-owned fuel and lubricant marketer and distributor with offices across Ontario.

“Customers can expect the same commitment to quality, safety and service that McDougall Energy has maintained for over 75 years,” the companies said.

The skilled teams from Meridian Fuels and Northern Freight & Logistics will join McDougall Energy to support a smooth transition and uninterrupted service, the release said.

The companies said the acquisition strengthens their ability to support local businesses and industries while continuing to deliver energy solutions across the region.
