FedEx Corp. has acquired RouteSmart Technologies, a route optimization company, in a move aimed at improving efficiency across its global operations.
The acquisition will integrate RouteSmart’s technology with FedEx’s physical and data networks to enhance delivery optimization. FedEx has been a long-time user of RouteSmart’s Routing as a Service (RaaS) platform, which supports its internal FedEx Route Optimization (FRO) tool.
“This is yet another step on our journey to make supply chains smarter for everyone as we revolutionize logistics,” said FedEx president and CEO Raj Subramaniam. “Through this acquisition, we will use RouteSmart’s expertise and proven technology platform to accelerate the deployment of a common route optimization capability.”
RouteSmart, headquartered in Columbia, Md., will continue to serve customers across various industries and operate as a standalone entity under FedEx Dataworks, a subsidiary of Federal Express Corp.
“We are excited to tighten our strategic relationship with FedEx as we further drive efficiency throughout FedEx’s global operations,” said Larry Levy, president of RouteSmart Technologies.
