SEATTLE — Amazon announced plans to open new one-million-square-foot-plus fulfillment centres in Mississippi and Florida.
Employees at the more than one million-square-foot fulfillment centres in Auburndale, Florida, and DeSoto County, Mississippi, will pick, pack and ship large items, such as sports equipment, patio furniture, fishing rods, pet food, kayaks, bicycles, and larger household goods.
The e-commerce giant currently employs more than 13,500 full-time staff in Florida and says this new centre will add more than 500 new, full-time positions. The Florida project is being developed by ProLogis.
In the past 10 months, Amazon has announced two north Mississippi locations. The latest project is being developed by Hillwood Investment Properties.
