Schwaigern, Germany – European packaging specialist Soehner Kunststofftechnik GmbH has opened a UK subsidiary to offer local delivery for its customers. The new office in Stansted will offer faster response times for product delivery.
Best known for its MegaPack range, the company has brought in James Mead, formerly of Sealed Air and Ampac to head its UK and Ireland operations. Mead says the demand for speed cannot be underestimated: “There’s an ever-growing requirement for quicker lead times throughout the supply chain. Gone are the days when a customer would wait nine to 10 weeks for their packaging order to come through. We want to help our customers deliver better service to their customers so we’ve invested in a base from which we’ll be able to stock, supply and service the UK market much more efficiently.”
“James has a great deal of knowledge in the UK packaging market, we know he will be a great asset,” said Dr Theo Doll, managing director for Soehner GmbH. “We have listened to customers’ concerns about the future and we’re confident in our contingency planning. Holding stock in the UK will help make Soehner resilient to any changes in EU and UK economic conditions.”
Soehner’s MegaPack range offers a complete 360-degree category approach to minimizing transport cube volume and offers a re-use and return solution. The product range, which consists of a fully foldable container for large load carriers aims to achieve a volume reduction of up to 85 per cent versus alternative applications. MegaPack folding systems are manufactured in twin sheet thermo forming and are geared for all requirements in the supply chain for factory to factory logistics.
Soehner works in all markets with many blue chip customers throughout Europe in the automotive, aerospace, retail, defence and shipping sectors with MegaPack brands offering standard and bespoke eco-friendly packaging solutions.
