Port of Montreal faces second strike this week

Friday July 1st will see a new strike

MONTREAL – The Port of Montreal has notified its customers that the Maritime Employers Association has received another strike notice from the Executive Committee of the Port of Montreal’s Checkers’ Union, effective Friday, July 31 at 5:59 a.m. and ending Saturday, August 1 at 5:59 a.m.

Normal operations are expected to resume at 06:00 on Saturday, August 1.

The current strike situation began at 07:00 on Monday 29th July, and is scheduled to end at 06:59 on Friday July 31st.

Neither action is affecting liquid bulk handling, the Oceanex service (Bickerdike Terminal) and the grain terminal (Viterra).

The Montreal Port Authority suggests clients contact or consult the websites of the various terminal operators for more specific information on their particular circumstances.
