Bloodhound Tracking Device has launched a new covert container tracking and security solution aimed at the global container shipping market.
The company said its BTD Tracker 1 is designed specifically for ocean, rail and intermodal operations and is priced to compete with existing cellular and GPS-based tracking systems. Bloodhound says the device is built to outperform legacy container trackers from companies such as Nexiot, BlackBerry and ORBCOMM.
“Tracker 1 was designed for containers, not adapted for them,” said Curtis Spencer, founder of Bloodhound Tracking Device. “We eliminated the compromises shippers have been forced to accept: unreliable connectivity, complex installs, short battery life and disposable hardware. Tracker 1 is built to work everywhere, last for years, and protect cargo without exception.”
According to the company, Tracker 1 is a fully self-contained, always-on unit designed for harsh shipping environments. Features include cellular LTE connectivity with fallback options, integrated GPS, Iridium satellite communications for global coverage, motion and impact detection, programable geofences and a five-year battery life. The device can be permanently installed in about five minutes without tools and supports integration with transportation management systems through multiple APIs.
Bloodhound said Tracker 1 also introduces a five-year lifecycle service model that includes 24/7 monitoring, maintenance, battery replacement and replacement of damaged units. The company says the hardware is not disposable at end-of-life, a move it says reduces long-term costs and operational disruption for customers.
Commercial options include leasing or purchasing the device with a service agreement, as well as extended service agreements beyond five years.
BTD Tracker 1 is available globally, targeting ocean carriers, container owners, leasing companies, logistics providers, insurers and government agencies.
