Cold Chain Technologies launches upgraded EcoFlex 3 reusable shipper

Cold Chain Technologies has introduced the EcoFlex 3, the latest version of its reusable temperature-controlled shipper designed to cut waste, improve handling and lower fossil-fuel use.

The company says the new model builds on its existing EcoFlex line with customer-driven upgrades, including AirShield technology for dry-ice shipments. The feature “strategically controls gas flow in order to prevent super cooling events and optimises the duration of dry ice shippers by slowing down the sublimation process.”

Cold Chain Technologies also redesigned the lid mechanism, attaching it to the shipper’s core rather than the top vacuum-insulated panel. The change allows dry ice to be added “without moving or touching the payload,” while simplifying packing and unpacking.

Other updates include improved core wrapping to reduce scrap and speed up refurbishment, as well as refreshed artwork that emphasizes reuse. The units arrive fully conditioned with pre-printed labels to streamline return and reconditioning through the company’s CCT ReNew program.

More than five million EcoFlex shippers have been deployed to date, which the company says has diverted 55 million pounds of material from landfill.

“EcoFlex 3 represents a new level of reusable capability for temperature-controlled shipping, offering a robust thermal packaging solution which minimises the need for payload interference, simplifies packing and unpacking and enhances our reusable program,” said David Webber, senior global marketing manager.

He added the range is designed “to provide customers with solutions which minimise waste and CO2 emissions, optimise packaging and freight processes and manage thermal, mechanical and regulatory risk.”

EcoFlex 3 is available in four sizes and four temperature ranges, with additional products expected in 2026.
