Ontario accounts for two-thirds of new Canadian USDOT registrations

A total of 79 Canadian-based trucking companies received new USDOT numbers between Oct. 1 and Oct. 25, with Ontario accounting for 53 of those registrations, according to data compiled by HaulProof from U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration records.

The report found Canadian carriers held 16,037 active USDOT numbers as of Oct. 27. Alberta recorded 15 new registrations during the period, followed by British Columbia with five and Manitoba with four.

Separately, HaulProof’s daily monitoring of FMCSA records found 14 Canadian carriers lost their U.S. operating authority between Oct. 25 and 27, while 14 carriers had insurance filings dropped and four were placed out of service. Three carriers had their authority restored and four new authority applications were published during the same period.

Ontario recorded the highest number of authority revocations, with seven, followed by Alberta with three. Quebec had the highest number of dropped insurance filings, with four, and accounted for two of the four out-of-service orders.

According to the report, daily tracking of carrier status changes began Oct. 25, meaning the authority, insurance and out-of-service figures reflect only the Oct. 25-27 period rather than the full month.
